• Nightly Discussion #104

How's it going tonight, everyone? It looks like we've been having some pretty active discussions lately, and that's super awesome! Are there any shows that you like to see crossed over with SU (whether through art or writing)? Are there any crossovers that you haven't seen portrayed in fan works, but that you'd like to see? Discuss your favorite SU crossovers in the comments!

  • Drawing Things Out #97

Is starting the art post with a short gif animation too distracting? Or does it help spurn interest in the post? Regardless, have fun viewing tonight's art!

  • Tumblr Spotlight: Ask Bird Keeper Peri

This is literally one of the cutest SU ask blogs I have ever seen! It's still really new, but the art is amazing, and the creator not only answers asks, but creates original posts which are part of a bigger story. The premise is that Peridot has been taking care of 100 little bird-gems, called "lapeeps". Not much is known about them yet, except for the fact that they are adorable! Be sure to give this ask blog a follow, and join Peridot on all her bird adventures!

We'd love to hear from you guys about other tumblrs out there dedicated to the SU universe, whether it be OCs, characters from the show, alternate universes or what have you. If you have a tumblr to share send it to beachcitybugle@gmail.com for review. Remember, no pornographic material or extreme gore, keep submissions as PG-13 or below as possible.

  • Comic: Tough / Funny Fusion / Steven Tells Jokes / Malachite Appearing in Places She Shouldn't Be

Steven is a pretty pun-ny guy in the show, so it's not surprising that fans display that in their works. Check out these comics, featuring Steven's loveable sense of humor! Plus a bonus random 4th comic!

  • Fan Theory: Homeworld is Actually Multiple Planets?

This was a pretty intensive theory, so rather than try to summarize the post, I just copied over the  text and pictures. Be sure to read the theory, check out the source at the bottom, and comment on what you think bout this theory!

  • Comic: Friendship / Grunkle Stan / Human

Enjoy this comic post! It's a bit random, but there are still some goodies in here! Click for full view.

  • Article: The Influence of Magical Girls on Western Animation

This is a really neat article, which explores the parallels between western animation and Magical Girl Anime's. It not only includes Steven Universe, but a lot of other cool cartoons which are currently airing.

I've read a lot of articles and posts that praise Steven Universe for having a feminine male main character. It's really great how Steven, though born male, isn't afraid to express his feelings or be honest and caring (things which society repeatedly tells us are "girly"). There's nothing emasculating about showing emotion, and it's really cool that Steven demonstrates that. He is a protector, he defends his family and the residents of Beach City. But he also has a great heart, full of unyielding love.

Be sure to check out the article for more comparison's between western animation and Magical Girls!

  • Animation: Sapphire's Insults

I'm not sure what this animation is a dub of, but it seems to fit with the characters. Check it out, after the break.
