Welcome on back to the article that lets you see the voices behind the characters in Steven Universe. It's time once again for "Hey, It's That Voice!" Today, we will be looking at a voice of one of the Zoo-mans, Jay-Ten!
The Zoo-mans are an interesting bunch. Taken from Earth eons ago and now forced into a utopian paradise far away. There is so much that I personally would love to know more about the history with the gems and the Zoo-mans. How does Homeworld feel about the zoo? Are there more zoos like this with other species? And what about the life-cycles of the Zoo-mans? I really wish I could just learn more about this society. But that's not why we are here. Instead, we are here to look at the voices of the Zoo-mans. Now, some of the normal voice actors lends their voice to the various Zoo-mans, including Zach Callison, Michaela Dietz, Tom Scharpling, and storyboard artist/voice actor Lamar Abrams. But what about the voice of Jay-Ten (and that "little voice" that they hear)? Why, she is voiced by Cristina Vee!
A virtual paradise. |
Cristina Vee, born Cristina Valenzuela in the Los Angeles, grew up in Norwalk, California. At a young age, she wished to become an animator. However, after watching Sailor Moon as a child, she decided to pursue a career in voice acting. She attended Anime Expo multiple times as a fan, partaking in the AX Idol voice-over contest. A chance meeting with veteran voice-over artist Wendee Lee helped her audition for several shows for Bang Zoom! Entertainment.

Ladybug (Vee) in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. |
Finally, Cristina Vee is probably most known right now for another dubbing work. However, this is for the French cartoon Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, better known simply as Miraculous Ladybug. In this cartoon, Vee voices the main character, Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug.
And that will do it for this edition of "Hey, It's That Voice!" Join me next time when we look at the voice behind a giant yellow gem!
