A super interesting theory has popped up on YouTube. Remember the war flashback in Sworn to the Sword? This video analyzes the gem featured fighting Rose Quartz, explaining why it is more akin to an Amethyst gem than a Jasper gem, and pulling other scenes from the show to further back up the theory.
It's definitely an interesting theory, although there was one obvious point the theorist got wrong. He calls Amethyst an "undercooked runt", instead of the actual line of "overcooked runt". Still, everything else seems pretty solid. Give it a look for yourself!
