Nightly Discussion #601

Evening folks! Remember how I gushed about the new comics yesterday? Well, I just had to go out and get all the comic variants that I could from my local shop. It helps when the people who work at the shop know you have a comic buying problem when it comes to either Steven Universe or Squirrel Girl. Anyway, on to the discussion! I'm curious of what you guys think of Steven Universe getting more comics, books, and other forms of merchandise; would you like more, less, or is it just right?

Vulture: Steven Universe Is the Queerest Animated Show on TV

Allusions and subtext seems to be staples of SU. Sure, Garnet is a confirmed pairing, but other than that, there have been many other little ship hints here and there. Pearl and Amethyst, Pearl and Garnet, Lapis and Peridot, Garnet and Peridot... There are so many instances where characters are shown to perhaps be a bit more than friends. But in a more recent episode, queerness was taken to a new level! Pearl's blushing and embarrassment around the Mystery Girl has added new fuel to shippers everywhere.
