Fan Theory: Lion is a Gem?

As we saw with the Centipeetle in Monster Buddies, it's not impossible for a corrupted gem to become tamed. Not healed (yet), but tamed. Perhaps Lion is a corrupted gem, that Rose was able to tame and, and left him to guard the Desert Glass. To add more to the theory, we've seen Pearl store objects inside her gem, much in the same fashion that Lion stores objects in his mane. So, what do you think? Could Lion secretly be a gem? And if he's not, what sort of magical creature is he?

Anime News Network put out an article detailing a lot of the Anime references that SU pays homage to. Other than the obvious 'Steven is a magical boy', there are a lot more Anime tropes and scenes that SU references. It's great to see all the inspirations for SU scenes. There seem to be even more references the article doesn't talk about, to avoid major spoilers. It was a super interesting read!

Nostalgia Critic: Are Kids Shows Better NOW Than Ever?

Nostalgia Critic put out a video talking about kids shows! It's pretty informative, and Steven Universe pops up a few times. The video seems to focus on the last 20-30 years of children's television especially. Even though us 90's kids loved the cartoons we grew up with, we do have to admit that shows like Steven Universe, Adventure Time, and Avatar (to name a few) are of higher quality and cause us to think more than Talespin or Doug. Anyway, give the video below a watch for yourself!

Tumblr Spotlight: Ask the College Gems

A lot of the ask blogs we feature seem to be pretty new. Steven Universe has been airing for over a year and a half, so I guess the fandom is just now starting to take off! Ask the College Gems is only two weeks old, so they haven't made a lot of posts yet. Still, the art style is cutesy, although this ask blog hasn't mentioned Steven yet. Fan Theory: Peridot = Next Gen Pearl?

An interesting theory that suggest that Peridot is the next generation of gems (or several generations) after Pearl. They are both very smart gems, and have their gems on their forehead. Maybe that's not enough evidence to prove anything, but watch the video below and decide for yourself!

Beach City Bugle Makes a Million!

We did it! It's been 47 and 514 posts, but here we are at a million hits! We couldn't have reached such a number without our followers. Everyone who reads, reposts, or links to us is important. I wasn't with Calpain when he started this site, but I've jumped headfirst into helping when needed.

It originally took 29 days to reach the first 500,000. This time around, about 18 days was the time it took. This site is really taking off, and that's super cool! We've grown by 40 Facebook followers, although Twitter has only grown by 22. Still, pretty good numbers!

Thanks to everyone that submits things to us. We totally appreciate it, and wouldn't be able to keep this place fueled without community involvement. The Nightly Discussions seem to be picking up a bit, even during the hiatus. I love hanging out with you guys in the comments, and getting feedback on posts. Check out some stats about the site below!
