Back in 'Fusion Cuisine', Steven seemed adamant that all three of the Crystal Gems were parental, and even motherly, figures in his life. And yet, he seems to be breaking away from them in later episodes, acting more on his own rather than always seeking their guidance. Steven may not be growing physical, but he definitely seems to be mentally maturing. Has he reached that adolescent age of rebellion?
