Hello and welcome back to the article that takes a peek behind the animation and lets you see the voices behind those great characters we see in Steven Universe, it's time for "Hey, It's That Voice!" Today, we got double the trouble as we look at the voice behind the Rutile Twins!
Gems come in all shapes and sizes, and the Rutile twins are a testament to that. I just love everything about the Off Colors, and even more of how every single one of them is just great in their own way (like how the twins repeat each other in their own way or alternating words). Needless to say, I know we all want to see more of Rutile and the rest of the Off Colors. But just who supplies the voice for both of these twins? Why, that would be Ashly Burch!
The reveal of these two was great. Of course, all of the Off Colors are just great. |
Ashly Burch was born June 19, 1990 and currently resides in Los Angeles. She got her start in the career of media in 2008 with the debut of her webseries Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin'?. The series was made by Burch and her brother Anthony (a reviewer for Destructoid) when they still lived at their parent's home in Phoenix. As of the writing of this article, Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin'? has continued for five seasons, over 120 episodes, and over 19 million views.

After her brother Anthony was hired as a writer for the video game Borderlands 2, he suggested that his sister try out for the role of Tiny Tina. Thus would begin Ashly Burch's entry into the voice acting world. In the world of video games, Burch would lend her voice to many other games including Awesomenauts, Aliens: Colonial Marines, TowerFall, Saints Row IV, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, Team Fortress 2, Project Spark, Saints Row: Gat out of Hell, Gravity Ghost, Life Is Strange, There Came an Echo, Mortal Kombat X, The Magic Circle, Persona 4: Dancing All Night (replacing Laura Bailey as the voice of Rise Kujikawa), Fallout 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Lego Marvel's Avengers, Battleborn, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, Minecraft: Story Mode, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II, World of Final Fantasy, Horizon Zero Dawn, Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, Pit People, and Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite (again replacing Laura Bailey, this time as Chun-Li).
Mayuri Shiina from Steins;Gate and Sasha Braus from Attach on Titan. |
In the world of animation, specifically anime, Burch has had the oppurtunity to voice two well-known characters from two different franchises. The first is Mayuri Shiina in the English dub of the anime for Steins;Gate. The second anime character Burch has voiced is Sasha Braus in each animated adaptation of Attach on Titan, including Attach on Titan: Junior High.
Lastly, Burch has also lent her voiced a few characters for western animation as well. In 2013, Burch voiced Cass in the webseries Bee and PuppyCat. In 2014, Burch began working as story outliner for Adventure Time, as well as voicing a number of various characters for the show. Most recently, Burch has joined the cast of OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes!, voicing the teenager cashier of Gar's Bodega.
And that will do it for this edition of "Hey, It's That Voice!" Join me next time when we look at a very panicky fusion!
