Anime News Network put out an article detailing a lot of the Anime references that SU pays homage to. Other than the obvious 'Steven is a magical boy', there are a lot more Anime tropes and scenes that SU references. It's great to see all the inspirations for SU scenes. There seem to be even more references the article doesn't talk about, to avoid major spoilers. It was a super interesting read!
