• Hey, It's That Voice! #25: Rita Rani Ahuja

Hello and welcome back to "Hey, It's That Voice!" Today, we are going to be looking at the voice behind the biggest and giantest woman of them all, Alexandrite!

She's big. She's mean. And she will pound you into next week....that is, if all the Crystal Gems can keep their focus on a singular goal. Alexandrite is easily an amalgam of the Crystal Gems coming together to become an unstoppable force. One could say she's very primal in battle. But whether she is fighting a nasty fusion or trying to play the role of Steven's mother at a dinner with the Maheswaran, Alexandrite is not one to cross. But who voices this six-armed giant woman? Why, that would be Rita Rani Ahuja!

Looks like Alexandrite is ready to smash it up.

Rita Rani Ahuja was born December 10, 1978 in Silver Springs, Maryland (also the hometown of series creator Rebecca Sugar). Ahuja's first notable role was in the 2003 film Trade Offs, which she won 2003 Images Award from the Filmi Film Festival in Toronto, Canada. Following Trade Offs, Ahuja starred in American Addiction, The Call, and Behind The Curtain. She also had a small role as a bridesmaid in the 2005 comedy Wedding Crashers. Her best known work is the 2006 short film Bombay Skies, which has won numerous awards, including Best Narrative Short at the 2007 Boston International Film Festival, LA Femme Filmmaker Award at the 2008 LA Femme International Film Festival, and Golden Kahuna Award at the 2009 Honolulu International Festival. Ahuja had also written, directed and produced Bombay Skies.

Other roles Ahuja has had include Sleeper Cell, The Path to 9/11, Peep World, Diablo III, and The Way We Weren't.

That will do it for this edition of "Hey, It's That Voice!" Join me next time when we look at the voice of when the "jam buds" fuse together!
