• Little Ursa at WonderCon 2017

Hello! Little Ursa here with the convention recap of WonderCon 2017! This con, which is just north of me in Anaheim, California, is one of the biggest conventions in California. And with so many people in one place, there is bound to be plenty of Steven Universe fans! More info about the con  after the break!

WonderCon, which has just held it's 31st year, was started up in Oakland before it merged with San Diego Comic-Con International in 2001. In 2012, the convention moved from the Moscone Center in San Francisco to the Anaheim Convention Center. Last year, it moved to the Los Angeles Convention Center before returning to Anaheim. Numerous guests attended this year's convention, including big names such as Kevin Eastman (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Heavy Metal), Margaret Stohl (The Caster Chronicles, Captain Marvel, Black Widow novels), and Gerard Way (The Umbrella Academy, The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, Doom Patrol, frontman of My Chemical Romance).

Well, I guess we should start talking about my convention experience for this con! To start, I cosplayed each day. I actually debuted a brand new cosplay; Angus from Night In The Woods.

A total of 11 people recognized my cosplay, even with the sign. To be fair, the game has been only out for two months.

For the first day, I wanted to go around the con, shop a little, and say hi to some of my friends. Needless to say, I wasn't the only one with that idea.

Unsurprisingly, this was taken about an hour before the hall opened.

But just because I wasn't cosplaying something Steven-y and wanted to shop, that doesn't mean I didn't find some great cosplays around the con!

I've never realized how much I wanted to see a Doctor Eggman cosplay like this.

I've wanted to cosplay Joe from Digimon since I was 10.

I have to take photos of just about Star vs. the Forces of Evil cosplay for my friend who works on the show.

Any Mega Man cosplay is good in my book, even more if it's X.

Nuts to you! Squirrel Girl is always a favorite of mine.

An impromptu Overwatch gathering happens quite often at these sort of events.

Looks like Wonder Woman just couldn't stay away from a con that bears her name.

It was nice for Nemesis to stop his pursuit of Jill Valentine for a photo.

But, I assure you, there are plenty of Steven Universe cosplays to enjoy:

While at the con, I did stop by the Gallery Nucleus booth, who told me that they are in the works for hosting another Cartoon Network event. And as soon as we hear about it, you can be sure we will share it with you!

And yes, you can buy many of those fabulous prints on their website.

Also, with my cohort, we attended the Riverdale panel in the arena and, needless to say, it was an absolute blast.

There was a ton of talent on that stage.

Saturday was April Fool's Day (and apparently something happened to Beach City Bugle, something I can bear-ly handle....that was a bad pun, I'm sorry). Oddly enough, I didn't see too many cosplays, but I did find some folks who absolute loved Lion!

    No caption needed.

    There's a joke here, I know it.

And there were some Steven-y cosplays as well:

And some other cosplays as well:

    She's just too adorable.

My friend actually won an award last year for her Katana cosplay, and she loves encouraging little cosplayers to keep it up.

Finally, Sunday came around and I brought out the fan-favorite of "Amy", better known as baseball!Amethyst.

    Ready to hit some homeruns.

There were some great cosplays all over the con.

Glad to see Mae made it out of Possum Springs to attend the con.

    MVPs right here.

I wanted to do this to Negan after what he did to Abraham and Glenn.

This cosplay of Sadako Yamamura from the Ring trilogy wins. I feel like I should just give up cosplay after seeing her contort herself in and out of the television (and yes, she fit her entire body in there).

And throughout the con, I did find some cosplays of some other Cartoon Network shows.

We see Wirt and Greg cosplays all the time, but this is something different all together. We need more Over the Garden Wall cosplays like this.

Bet you weren't expecting to see his blast from the past. It's worth nothing that the real Puffy AmiYumi would be in LA for a concert the next Tuesday.

And of course, since it was Sunday, it was the day for the Steven Universe gathering! You can see all the lovely photos in the post here.

We had a number of great cosplayers.

And finally, here is my haul from the con. These actually include presents for friends. I would say for those people to not look, but they already got them.

Join me next time for my con recap! I will be sure to make it as if you were there yourself!
