Hello and welcome back to that article that lets you look at the voices behind your favorite Steven Universe characters! It's time for "Hey, It's That Voice!" Today, we are going to look at the voice behind that lovable, robotic flying dog, Dogcopter!
He's brave, he's robotic, and he's loves explosions! Sure, Dogcopter is a fictional character in Steven Universe, but don't forget that he is one of Connie's favorite fictional characters, and Steven did have some dreams about him. In fact, Steven played chess, or some other interesting board game, with him (which ended with Dogcopter winning and eating the game piece). But who is the voice of this flying canine (and several other characters in the show)? Why, that would be Chris Jai Alex!

A true battle of wits. |
Born in Lansing, Michigan on February 16, 1982, Chris Jai Alex was born into a musical family and grew up with an admiration for the arts. He taught himself piano, guitar, and midi production. Using his musical talent, he produced and performed with a number of different groups, including one called Mirage which was a local success. He continued with his music career after high school, first moving to New York, back to Lansing, and eventually to Los Angeles with Phineqx Entertainment, a label he created with his brother.
While in Los Angeles, Alex started learning martial arts informally at Los Angeles Valley College. This opened the door for Alex, as he began working for films, television, and video games as a stunt worker. His credits for stunts include Lords of the Underworld, The Last Sentinel, Resident Evil 5, Deadliest Warrior, Tron: Legacy, CHAOS, Sons of Anarchy, Red Dawn, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Jack the Giant Slayer, Tomb Raider, Thor: The Dark World, The Last of Us: Left Behind, Checkmate, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Captain America: Civil War, Supergirl, Grimm, and American Horror Story. He is also contributing to the stunt work of the upcoming works of Days Gone, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and the upcoming God of War game.
Outside of stunt work, Alex does participate in other voice acting roles outside of Steven Universe (FYI, along with Dogcopter, he voices Lonely Blade, Lonely Blade's Brother, the Evil Janitor, Mr. Money, Ace, Ace's Father, and the various arcade machines at Funland). He has lent his voice and acting talent to Neverwinter Nights 2, The Boondocks, Lewis Black's Root of All Evil, the English dub of Mia and the Migoo, Battle Planet, Resident Evil 5, Deadliest Warrior, Deadliest Warrior: The Game, Mafia II, Suika (directed by himself), The 3rd Birthday, Tera, Tosh.0, the English dub of Berserk: The Golden Age Arc, 1000 Ways to Die, True Blood, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, the English dub of the telenovela Violetta, PlanetSide 2, The Last of Us, Zane's The Jump Off, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, The Last of Us: Left Behind, Battlefield Hardline, the English dub of Xenoblade Chronicles X, Teen Wolf, The Muppets, Supergirl, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Colony, Captain America: Civil War, the English dub of Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt, the English dub of Fairy Fencer F, the English dub of Gantz: O, and Titanfall 2. He will also be appearing in the upcoming projects of LawBreakers, Days Gone, Hacker, and Star Wars Battlefront II.
