Original Garnet's design is so cool! I wonder if we'll see more gem designs through the years as they've changed. There's still that old timey photo from 'So Many Birthdays' that we haven't gotten a whole lot of context for. The gems have been around for over 5,000 years, that's a lot of different cultural changes to go through!

Children's Shows VS. Childish Shows

SU touches on a lot of topics that some might say are too mature for kids. And yet, if they look back at their own childhood, wouldn't most adults consider themselves to have been capable and intelligent children? Oh sure, shows like Animaniacs were definitely fun, and a great watch, but it didn't touch on the hard real life issues that kids face. Fun and silly shows are great, but they don't teach problem solving, how to deal with loss, the importance of consent, how to resolve arguments, or even how to talk to your parents. So how does SU compare in its lessons when pitted up against an actual adult show - one where it should be far easier to explore seemingly "adult" or "mature" subject matter? Who likes Pearl with long hair? I wonder if any of her past designs had long hair? Amethyst had shorter hair in the 80's flashback, and now she's got a ton of it! Maybe Pearl has gone through the opposite? We've seen Pearl's hair be pretty much the same, even in the war flashback 5,750 years ago. Garnet's hair was definitely different then, but Pearl's hasn't seemed to change much. Maybe there was a point when she tried something different between the beginning of the war and the current timeline.
